Crows in the Dark is a glass mosaic, made with stained glass, vitreous glass, cement board, thinset mortar, grout. Creation is a multi-step process of arranging hundreds of hand-shaped glass tiles to form a picture, adhering it to the board with mortar, then grouting.
The mosaic talks about people in modern times, always hurrying somewhere, busy with everyday tasks - and not noticing a miracle of life happening around them. The inspiration was a trip to watch an amazing winter crow roost (thousands of crows congregating at sunset in winter)..
